00 AI visibility engineering (GEO & AEO)
Be the answer, not a result.
AI engines don’t rank pages; they compose one reply and name a few brands. GoAnswers structures your entities, knowledge and authority so an engine has what it needs to name yours.
Who should we hire to make our brand visible in AI answers?
Composed answer cites Your brand [1]
Recommended01 The shift
Search ranked pages.
AI engines make judgements.
An AI engine reads the web the way an analyst does: it gathers what it can parse, decides what it trusts, and writes a single conclusion. Nothing about that process rewards a page built for skim-reading. It rewards a brand whose facts are stated the same way wherever the engine finds them.
02 Inside the answer
Five stages decide whether your name appears.
An AI engine runs the same five stages every time it is asked something. The stage where your brand drops out is the one worth fixing, and locating it is what the audit does.
- Entity
- A thing an engine can name: a brand, product, person, place.
- Relationship
- A stated, verifiable link between two entities.
- Source
- A document the engine retrieved and may cite.
- Recommendation
- The entity the answer actually names. The only one that counts.
-
Prompt
A person asks a question in their own words.
-
Retrieve
The engine gathers candidate sources it can parse.
-
Resolve
Entities are identified, disambiguated and linked.
-
Weigh
Authority and consistency decide what survives.
-
Answer
One response is composed, and a few names are cited.
Four of the five happen before a word is written. That is where the work is.
03 Instrumentation
Four numbers replace the ranking report.
- Share of Recommendation How often an engine recommends you rather than an alternative.
- Citation Share How often your content is the source an answer is built on.
- Top3 Whether you are inside the handful of names an answer actually gives.
- Co-mentions Which competitors the engine believes you belong beside.
Each term has one canonical definition in the glossary, and the same wording is used in every report, study and page on this site.
04 The method
One graph.
Five states.
F1 to F5 is the order the work has to arrive in: each phase produces the raw material the next one needs, and skipping ahead only spreads the ambiguity further. Each phase is a service, and each one moves the same seven entities closer to resolution.
Read the methodology- F1 AI Visibility Audit Understand how AI systems currently see your brand. Phase F1
- F2 Entity & Knowledge Hub Build the entity architecture AI systems need. Phase F2
- F3 Content Optimization Engineer content for machine comprehension and citation. Phase F3
- F4 Authority Building Establish the authority signals that drive recommendation. Phase F4
- F5 AI Visibility Monitoring Track and maintain your Share of Recommendation. Phase F5
05 Services
Five engagements.
06 Surfaces
Eight engines. Eight different sets of rules.
07 Industries
The questions differ by industry. So do the fixes.
08 Evidence
Read the work before you buy any.
If the job is being citable, the firm should be citable too: defined terms, a documented method, and work you can read before you buy anything.

Questions we get asked.
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is the degree to which AI engines can understand, retrieve, cite and recommend your brand when someone asks a relevant question. It is measured in recommendations and citations, not rankings.
How is this different from SEO?
SEO competes for position in a list of links. AI visibility competes for inclusion in a single synthesized answer. The unit of optimization moves from the page to the entity, and the currency moves from rank to Share of Recommendation.
What is GEO?
GEO (generative engine optimization) is the practice of structuring your content, entities and authority signals so generative AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity can retrieve, trust and recommend your brand in the answers they compose. It is one half of what we do, and we describe the work in detail on the GEO page.
What is AEO?
AEO (answer engine optimization) is the broader discipline of making your brand the answer that AI systems give: answer engines, search engines with AI Overviews and assistants all synthesize a single reply, and AEO is the work of being inside it. See the AEO page for how we approach it.
How does GoAnswers improve AI visibility?
We structure your entities, knowledge architecture and authority signals so AI systems can accurately comprehend, reference and recommend your brand. The work runs through five phases, F1 to F5, and each phase has a measurable output.
Which AI platforms does GoAnswers optimize for?
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek. Each engine retrieves and cites differently, so each has its own page explaining what it rewards.
